If you live next to a fast flowing river, next to a kayak and canoe club and you have an older brother who is a national kayak team member, then it somehow just by itself happen to develop the drive and the hunger to put a natural siblings' competitiveness to work. "Mirko" had to have a go at it of course. And so he started on his own path in the kayak. In that era there were no real kayak coaches to speak of; there were older competitors and the fellows who paddled for the sheer fun of it . . .

Father Skok loaded the boats on to the roof of the car, crammed the children into it and they went to a competition. The first successes followed, alas the road to a potentially great competitive career was cut short by a serious traffic accident. Whilst he had to relinquish the dream of the competitive career, the love of the sport remained as strong as ever.

His sporting path was marked with a number of great achievements: for a number of seasons he achieved the top results inn junior, intermediate and senior levels of competition. On the World Team Championships he was placed 6th.

Miran is the "soul" of the SKOK SPORT, who will show you the wonderful world of the kayak and the wild, white waters of Slovenia and beyond.
